For very long time, I admire people who travelled more than 100 km on a bike in one day. That is the reason why is this item on my bucket list. In this September, I got an ideal opportunity to complete this item. I had a help from my friend Lenka, who challenged me to ride from Brno to Valtice on a bike.
And… We have done it. She rode more than 140 km and I about 170 km. Funny thing was that I wasn’t even tired after that ride. A not funny thing was I couldn’t fall to sleep for more than 4 hours after I arrived home.
So, I was thinking… If 170 km is not enough, how about 200 km on a bike in one day? And where I will go?
The first option was the mounting called Praděd. It would be a great opportunity so see my friend living near Praděd. But if counted the way to Česká ves, it wasn’t enough. So, the second option was the Lysá hora.
From Brno to the Lysá hora is about 200 km. I took 2 liters of water, three muesli bars and in 6:30, I started my way. It wasn’t that hard like I was expecting. The toughest thing was to sit on the seat after 50 km and handle the steering.
I didn’t have enough time to go up to the Lysá hora because I would go down in pitch black. I wasn’t so stupid like 16 years before when I crashed on a bike when I was going down from Lysá hora and injured my kidney. This time, I took my time, sleep over in Ostravice in a caravan (my first night in caravan). It was just enough, 201 km in one day. Next day, I finished what I have started in 2005 – successfully get up and down from Lysá hora.
Nothing changed, they still same people like before. So, I closed this chapter of my life also.
If was nice to see all the places from my childhood again. But that is the history know. Time to move on, perhaps to the next bucket item!
